Mark Oyier is the director of information technology at Safaricom.
He leads the organisation’s IT strategy and operations, overseeing enterprise systems, infrastructure, billing platforms, applications and technology governance to support business performance and service delivery.
Since March 2024, Mark has been responsible for leading the billing and core applications (BSS) function at Safaricom, ensuring the reliability, integration and performance of systems that support revenue management and customer-facing services.
Prior to this role, Mark served as head of department, IT infrastructure and shared applications at Safaricom from 2021 to 2024. He provided leadership across core infrastructure, integration, data management, cloud services and service centres, while guiding teams on capacity planning, platform investments, business continuity and service availability.
Before joining Safaricom, Mark worked at Stanbic Bank Kenya as head of IT applications, development and support from 2020 to 2021. He directed the production systems team, overseeing core banking systems, digital payment platforms and self-service channels.
He also served as head of IT applications and channels at NCBA Group, where he managed enterprise applications including core banking, data systems, treasury, credit, payment systems, middleware and risk systems.
Earlier, Mark worked at Commercial Bank of Africa as manager of systems development and integration, where he oversaw system development initiatives, reviewed vendor architectural designs and managed IT resources for banking projects.
