Eveque Mutabaruka is the chief information officer at Bank of Kigali in Rwanda.

He leads the organisation’s technology strategy, overseeing IT operations, digital transformation, and system innovation to support business growth and enhance the customer experience.

Eveque began his journey in banking technology at KCB Bank Rwanda, progressing through roles in application development, integration, and team leadership before joining Bank of Kigali. Through his expertise and strategic vision, he has played a central role in driving the bank’s digital transformation initiatives and IT operating model alignment with business strategy.

Among his notable achievements, Eveque led the integration of core banking systems with external applications via middleware, enhancing operational efficiency and data consistency.

As engineering lead, he promoted best practices in software development, including test-driven development and continuous integration, while coaching technical leads to deliver high-quality solutions. Since 2022, as CIO at Bank of Kigali, he has overseen IT security, data governance, and digital banking initiatives, providing strategic advice to senior management and the board on leveraging technology to drive revenue and customer engagement.

Earlier in his career, Eveque also served as CIO on contract at BBS in Botswana, where he supported business strategy through the implementation of technology capabilities and innovative products.
