Steven Mwesige is the CISO at Pearl Bank Uganda, a position he assumed in July 2026 after serving as acting CISO for one year.
Before stepping up as acting CISO he had been the head of ICT security and governance from March 2024 to July 2025 and manager of ICT security and data protection from September 2020 to February 2024. He also serves as board chairperson of Pearl Bank Staff Sacco, a position he has held since August 2024.
Between stints at Pearl Bank, Steven was IT risk officer at Bank of Africa Uganda from March 2019 to September 2020. He first joined Pearl Bank Uganda as IT security officer from January 2018 to February 2019.
Earlier in his career, Steven was manager and senior tutor at the Institute of Forensics and ICT Security, and ICT solutions architect and lead penetration tester at Summit Consulting, both from January 2015 to March 2016. He began his career as systems and network administrator at the Anti Corruption Coalition Uganda, from October 2010 to August 2013.
Steven holds a BSc in information technology from Uganda Christian University and an MSc in cybersecurity from Royal Holloway, University of London. He also holds an executive MBA in artificial intelligence and blockchain from Eaton Business School. His certifications include Certified Ethical Hacker and ISO/IEC 27001 Lead Implementer.
