Christopher Mwangi is the group chief technology and information officer for FiberCo at AXIAN Telecom.
He leads the group’s technology strategy for fixed broadband infrastructure, overseeing the development of fibre networks, OSS/BSS integration and digital platforms across multiple markets.
Christopher joined AXIAN Telecom in May 2026 after more than a decade at Liquid Intelligent Technologies, where he steadily rose through technical and leadership positions. He began as a network engineer team lead in 2014, managing network operations, technical escalations and infrastructure deployments across IP and wireless technologies. He later became engineering manager for Kenya and East Africa head of engineering, where he oversaw regional engineering operations, core network evolution, cloud deployments and cybersecurity frameworks.
In 2021, he was appointed chief technology officer for East Africa, taking responsibility for regional technology strategy, digital transformation, network operations, engineering, field operations and programme management across several markets. In that role, he led teams of more than 300 engineers while driving automation, AI integration, governance initiatives and infrastructure expansion projects aimed at improving network reliability and operational efficiency.
Before joining Liquid, Christopher worked at Kenya Data Networks as a senior network operations centre engineer and earlier as an application developer. His work focused on network assurance, outage resolution, optimisation and infrastructure support.
He also worked as a network and onsite engineer at Swift Global, where he supported internet and WAN services, microwave installations and structured network deployments.
